Attention all DOTA gamers; if you guys haven't gone over and kicked off an evony login then you are missing out!

At the moment, evony free forever is a free MMO where signups do not cost a cent. Developed by gaming gurus out of China, this new RTS based game is proving highly popular online.

Several million players and gaming accounts are now active and new sequels and addons to the game are being created all the time.

Worth getting there and signing up for a new account before demand forces this game to go to a pay for play model.

DOTA Tournament Competitions

That's right the long awaited DotA comp has arrived. I'm putting this in a fairly formal context because a cash prize will be involved.

These are currently some ideas I've drafted for the rule set and this is the place to discuss them.

Game Details:

* DOTA Version X.xx {will be deciced close to the event}
* 5 v 5 -AP (A full team must be fielded)
* Best of 1 game knockout format.
* Resulting winners will play off to continue to the next level of play.
* Of the final four teams the two winning teams will go on to play for 1st and 2nd, the losing sides will play for 3rd and 4th.

Game Format:
* Coin toss where the winning captain gets to either choose who starts the game (thus choosing race) or who selects the first character.
* Character selection is pre-determined using the 1-2-2-2-2-1.
* Starting team will select game mode: AP
* Before the game commences the hero's will be checked with the preselected characters, any alterations will be warned and further disqualified.
* Winner is decided by defeat or concession of opponent.
* Should the game crash within 5 mins the game will be restarted.
* Should the game crash after 5 mins a resultant save game would be attempted.
* After 5 mins a save game will be made every 15 mins as all round games will commence together a 15 min save will be announced and performed.
* Should the savegame fail any resulting replay would be used to determine a winner by the match referee.
* If a player is disconnected before 10mins the match will be restarted.
* If a player is disconnected after 10mins the match will continue
* Should the player be deemed to have intentionally left the match, it will be the referee's desicion to continue or award a win to either team.
* Any match where the full roster is not present on game commencement will forfeit the match at the opposing teams request.
* Replay and Screenshot must be provided on completion from each match.

Foul Play:

* Any cheating, exploiting, anti competitive behaviour must have the game paused and an admin notified immeadiatly.
* {ingame rules to be clarified here, pooling, tree trapping, backdooring, teleporting, item sharing}
* All cheating confirmed either by in game spectator or replay verification.
* A spectator recorded replay will be attempted and will be deemed the definitive source of inquiry evidence.

Obligations:

* Team Captains will be responsible for registering each their team correctly.
* Team Captains will be responsible for presenting team comp entry fee.
* All replays will be made publicly available, and may be commented upon.
* All user names must be rated PG for competition announcement and public result display.
* All photo's, replays, quotes, and anythng related to the DOTA competition can be used for by LS for promotional purposes..

Dispute Resolution:

* Complaints will be openly discussed between gamers on the day in attempt to reach an amicable resolution.
* Any decision or interpretation of these rules is at the discretion of the game referee.
* Final complaint may be lodged with LS Admin board for review, all competition proceeds will be withheld until such time a descion is made.

So there they are this is also the place to register your interest in the competition, currently seeking enough teams to fill an 8 team tourney. As this will fit snugly into an LS day of gaming.

Entry fee and cash prize breakdown still to be decided, all cash received will go toward the prize pool with at least a 1st and 2nd cash prize, 3rd maybe... at this stage it will just be a hug from Wilko in traditional LS Style.

All replays will be published and potentially commentated upon.

Keep in mind all things here are draft and subject to discussion/change.

Luna Moonfang - Moon Rider

Our mission today is to learn the basics concerning Luna Moonfang - The Moon Rider

Your primary attribute is agility so buy items and recipes containing this attribute
Try this, start with Ring of Regen then Wraith Band and Boots of Speed then 2x blade of alcrity and make Lothar's Edge so you will have the ability to Wind Walk either for quick getaway either for stealthy kill.
One must have item for Luna is HELM OF DOMINATOR or MASK of DEATH or any other life stealing item, because..... i will tell you later... You could buy Monkey King Bar ,Boots of Travel maybe Hyperstone...

Lucent Beam - [Level 4]
120 mana
Luna channels the moon's energy in the form of a Lucent Beam, dealing 300 damage to an enemy. 0.6 Ministun. Cooldown 6sec.
This spell is good for annoying/killing enemy heroes but personally, i don't like it.

Moon Glave [Level 4]
Gives Luna the ability to strike 5 units with each attack. Each enemy beyond the first incurs a 35% damage loss, per unit.
This is a passive spell that you must level up early, and this is the spell for which you need to have any life stealing item. You hit 5 enemies at once so you will gain nice hp from those items.

Lunar Blessing [Level 4]
An aura that gives friendly nearby units a 27% bonus damage to their ranged attacks.
This is also a passive spell/aura that needs leveling early. This and Moon Glave will be your primary focus if you ask me the others can w8.

Eclipse [Level 3]
The moon's magic is summoned, casting 10 Lucent Beams around Luna. Damage is equal to Lucent Beam level. No unit may be hit more than 4 times by this Eclipse. Cooldown 140sec.

Helm of the Dominator
The powerful headpiece of a dead necromancer. Gives +5 armor, +20 damage, 15% lifesteal, and the ability to Dominate creeps.

Lothar's Edge
The legendary Lothar's blade that was dropped during the Second War. Grants +21 damage, +21 agility, and a 9 second Wind Walk (Grants invisibility and +20% movement speed) Cooldown 17 seconds (ffs that's fast lol)

Monkey King Bar
A powerful staff used by a martial arts master. Grants +75 damage, 15% increased attack speed, and a 30% chance to deal 100 bonus damage on every attack stopping channeling spells.

Frost Nova (V)
Blasts enemy units around a target enemy unit with a wave of damaging frost that slows movement and attack rates for 4 seconds.
Level 1 - 50 target damage and 75 nova damage.
Level 2 - 100 target damage and 100 nova damage.
Level 3 - 125 target damage and 125 nova damage.
Level 4 - 175 target damage and 150 nova damage.
Mana Cost: 125/150/170/190
Cooldown: 9
Comment: This is the Lich's basic damage spell (nuke), and in the game called DoTA it makes sense to level up nuke spells as quickly as possible. By level 7 you can raise this to level 4, making it a very painful spell against your enemies and, used together with Dark Ritual, makes the Lich a powerhouse nuker and harasser. To use this spell the Lich has to select a target, which will receive 325 spell damage (not yet factoring in magic resistance) while enemy units near the target will be damaged for 150 spell damage as well. You as the Lich receive this nuking power at level 7. Note that the cooldown for Frost Nova is 9.25 seconds.

Frost Armor (F)
Creates a shield of frost around a target friendly unit. The shield adds armor and slows attacking melee units for 2 seconds.
Lasts 25 seconds.
Level 1 - Adds 2 armor.
Level 2 - Adds 4 armor.
Level 3 - Adds 6 armor.
Level 4 - Adds 8 armor.
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 5
Comment: The recent buffs to the Lich increased the armor provided to 3/6/9/12 that lasts for 40 seconds (not 25), making it much more imbalanced as the Lich is now able to give free sets of Dragon (Knight) armor to everyone, abusing the duration. Great as this spell is, the Lich only learns it after he has maxed out his other 2 skills. If there are many melee enemy heroes that deal little attack damage (eg caster earthshaker, ogre magi), it may be useful to take just 1 level of this spell to provide the slow effect. Otherwise max this skill to provide a reduction of attack damage, very useful against late-game heroes who depend on attack damage. More about this spell later.
Dark Ritual (D)
Sacrifices a target friendly unit to convert its hit points into mana.
Level 1 - 15% of hit points to mana.
Level 2 - 30% of hit points to mana.
Level 3 - 45% of hit points to mana.
Level 4 - 60% of hit points to mana.
Mana Cost: 25
Cooldown: 55/50/45/40
Comment: The spell which makes the Lich fearsome as a nuker, it is used in conjunction with Frost Nova to repeatedly bombard the Sentinel with ice blasts. This spell requires you to sacrifice a friendly creep to regain mana based on its remaining hit points. Therefore it is best to select a full-HP Ghoul (scourge melee creep) and kill it preferably before it is doing battle so that you can regain as much mana as possible. We will discuss more aspects of this spell later on.
Chain Frost (C)
Releases a jumping breath of frost that can jump up to 7 times. Frost will bounce back and forth between units that are within 750 range.
Level 1 - Deals 280 damage per hit.
Level 2 - Deals 370 damage per hit.
Level 3 - Deals 460 damage per hit.
Level 4 - (with Aghanim Scepter) - Deals 580 damage per hit.
Mana Cost: 200/ 325 / 500/ 500
Cooldown: 145 / 115 / 60 / 60
Comment: This is probably what the Lich is most well-known for. The timing of this powerful spell is what makes or breaks the Lich. Due to various buffs on the Lich, level 3 Chain Frost now has a cooldown of 60 seconds (not 95). Therefore it is easily abusable late-game and probably only a few other ultimate spells like Laguna Blade and Finger of Death can match its cooldown. With Aghanim's Scepter, Chain Frost deals 550 damage per bounce and leashes out 7 bounces instead of the usual 6, and improves cast range from 750 to 850. We will discuss more on this spell to maximise its power.

DOTA: Dwarven Sniper Tips and Guide

How to Play Dwarven Sniper

Do you feel like being Rambo? Then you should choose Sniper be your hero. He is all about killing from a great distance with deadly accuracy. Headshots, criticals, you name it Sniper has it all. You just have to adopt the right play style and buy the adeqvate items and your suited for the massacre.

Kardel Sharpeye - The Dwarven Sniper

This hero is suited for damage dealing and killing many and fast. No chit chat they wont even see you coming or shooting but they will feel you in the game for sure when they start falling (apart :P).

He is all about agility, so more agility means more damage, more critical hits, and faster attack rate. This is just awesome.

Headshot "The shot deals bonus damage and stuns for a short period of time", well i must this will be your primary spell that you will have to lvl up early in game at lvl 4 it will deal 50 bonus damage, "in 40% of time", and 0.2 second stun. So this way you can easily disarm any opponent you may encounter. And if you have a Sange/Yasha and a Crystalis to aid you in critical and speed ... then you wont have any problem at all. Don't forget this is a passive skill.

Take Aim This is another passive spell which will enhance the range of Kardel`s rifle by 220 range at lvl 4, this way you can keep on shooting them from far back, but they wont be able to touch you lol, the noobs.

Scatter Shot (C) "Fires a ball full of shrapnel into the air, which promptly explodes, showering the target area in explosive pellets, each doing 10-25 physical damage in a 200 area of effect. Deals damage to buildings. Cast range of around 750. 1 second cast time." Well this spell is very useful to if they are many heroes in one place because this deals damage in a huge area. This spell is most useful for farming, i must say. But you can experiment and see which spell works best for you. At lvl 4 there will be 20 Pellets and don't forget these deal piercing damage. The cooldown is ok 12 seconds but mana cost is 120.

Now .....3.....2....1..... tadadada...!

Your Ultimate Assassinate (T) "Take time to aim, and then deal a large amount of damage to the target at a huge range. " at level 3 this deals 655 damage at an astonishing 2500 range, it has 1.5 seconds casting time. Take care because this will need mana, 375 it is, but only 12 seconds cooldown, so you can hunt them down fast.

Try to get items that will give you critical and damage so you only need 1 shot to kill 'em. You should constantly watch the battlefield and buy boots of travel, this way you can teleport fast near any low hp enemy hero and TAKE HIM DOWN. p.s. check back soon.

Hello again, in this guide i will teach you the basics of staying alive leveling up and earning gold in dota allstars First of all, when you start the game and select your hero, no matter what you should buy an animal carrier,

That way you can stay in front for lvl ing and earning money, not having to go back all the time. Always watch your health and know your enemies, that way you will now when you must retreat from battle so you wont die.

Don't stay there and hit as much as you can, when you start losing hp just go back a bit so you can regenerate. Watch the critters hp and attack those with very low hp so you get the kill (xp) and the money, you should also wonder inside the forest and kill those neutral critters that always respawn that's your best way of leveling up, and earning gold.

Blizzard NO-CD patch Warcraft3 - DOTA

Blizzard have officially released a NO-CD patch for the Warcraft 3 game; which inlcudes the DOTA mod.

See the information below;

Rock, Paper, Shotgun notes that in Blizzard's never-ending quest for perfect balance, they've added a handy feature for still-dedicated Warcraft players. Players will no longer need to have the disc in the drive in order to conquer Azeroth.

This kicks off a discussion by blogger Alec Meer about the role of copy protection and anti-piracy in PC gaming: "I don't need the Paint Shop Pro disc in my DVD drive whenever I want to butcher my holiday photos, after all. It was always doubly unnecessary for a game like W3, which also employs serial number checks if you want to play it online. Having the CD check as well seems like leaving a polite post-it note on the windscreen of a driver prone to double-parking. Don't bother. Just wheel-clamp the bastard.

While there're still some reasons to be circumspect about online distribution systems, they do spell an end to miserably sorting through quivering towers of plastic discs or popup-heavy crack websites. This brave new world, in which the data already installed upon my hard drive is all that's required to play a game I've paid for, is one I know I want to live in."

DOTA: The Death Prophet

How to play Death Prophet in DOTA, a mini-guide by MaxQ

This is one hero that i like very much playing with. Primary is intelligence but as i always say don't forget to buy some strength so you have a little bit more health, that way you have few more seconds to deal damage or if necessary run away.

Silence (E) "Stops all enemies in a target area from casting spells." This spell is very useful i must say but for me it ain't worth spending point early in game, you can let it for the end. At lvl 4 silence lasts 6 seconds for a mana cost of 80 and only 15 seconds cooldown.

Carrion Swarm (R) "Sends a horde of bats to damage enemies." Now this is what i must call a primary spell you will and must use this as many times as you can this is your damage dealing ability. At lvl 4 it deals 300 damage per unit, has 165 mana cost but only OMG 9 seconds cooldown. If you have mana, than you have kills :P.

Witchcraft (C) "Increases the potency of each of Krobelus' s spells." This is a passive spell which will reduce Carrion Swarm mana cost by 20, Cooldown by 4 seconds; Silence, mana cost reduced to 50; Exorcism +4 Spirit; Base movespeed becomes 302. You must lvl this one up early together with carrion swarm.

And finally Exorcism (X) Your ultimate spell. "Unleashes evil spirits to attack your enemies." At lvl 3 it Summons 16 evil spirits. (+4 from witchcraft if you lvl it up) for 400 mana and has 120 seconds cooldown.

And if you buy at least Shiva's Guard (i like this one) or either Orchid Malevolence you will be just fine through the game. You also should consider buying Bloodstone, because you will be killing lots of heroes.

DOTA: Raigor Stonehoof

Raigor Stonehoof / Earthshaker (Kill a tonne of enemies in DOTA with a single wave)

Do you like strong heroes? Do you like having a lot of hp as well? Do you like dealing a lot of damage? Do you like stunning your enemies? ... and so on. If you answered yes then this is your hero you must play with.

The earthshaker is one hack of a powerful hero, with strength being is primary attribute it will not only increase your damage but your health too. So keep in mind that you will deal damage and have plenty of life with it too.

A huge mistake that many players do is that they forget about intelligence, but you wont make that mistake because you will buy intelligence items to for this hero that way you can stun and cast powerful spells and after those you can still hit with that huge wooden totem from your back to finish your enemy off.

Let's see what spells I'm talking about.

Fissure (F) "Slams the ground with the Raigor`s mighty totem, causing the ground of around 1000 range to crack in half in front of him, damaging opponents and leaving an impassible trail for 8 seconds." Now this will be your most important spell, this is your primary spell, it will deal 275 damage and 1.75 second stun for a mana cost of 170 at lvl 4 and just 15 seconds cooldown. So you can cast this many times and within a huge range, just don't forget you will need mana.

Enchant Totem (E) "Empowers the totem resting on Raigor` s back, causing it to deal extra damage on the next attack." At lvl 4 you will deal 200% increased damage for a mana cost of 50 and has 8 seconds cooldown. This is a powerful spell to but i always lvl this one up in the end game, because i mostly use the spells.

Aftershock (A) "The power of Raigor casting a spell causes the earth to shake below him, dealing additional damage and stunning." Now this is a good one to lvl up along side fissure because this spell is passive and will deal at lvl 4, 115 damage and 1.5 second stun after each spell, haha run if u can, not.

Echo Slam (C) Raigor's Ultimate spell. "Raigor sends shockwaves shooting through the ground, dealing damage ricocheting to nearby targets for additional damage." At lvl 3 it deals 350 initial damage and 65 echo damage. You must have 265 mana to cast this and it has 60 seconds cooldown.

Buy strength and intelligence items and maybe kelen' s dagger of escape so you can get near your enemy faster.

Ezalor is an Intelligence hero, whom needs a huge amount of intelligence and so mana, your spells will drain but if you reach a precise amount of intelligence you wont need more because you have spell that will replenish you so you can buy some strength items to so you will not be an easy target, because we don't want that... do we?

Your Primary spell must be Illuminate (T)"Channels a ball of positive energy, letting it build up 125 damage per second. When released, it damages all enemies in a line. The distance also improves with channeling time." At lvl 4 it builds up for 5 seconds has a range of 915 forward and 350 left and right the waves lane. This is very powerful and has only 10 seconds cooldown. But the con. is that it costs 150 mana to cast that's why i told you that you need mana and another annoying particularity is that it is channeled;

BUT if you don't want to channel and build up more damage just cast the spell then move your hero that will cancel channeling the spell and cast it instantly, of course with less damage. Another "must have early" spell is Chakra Magic (C)"Channels chakras through a friendly unit, creating a surge of mana. Increases hit point regeneration for 30 seconds."

Now at lvl 4 this spell will restore 360 mana and regenerate .6 hit points per second and gives an astonishing 28% damage increase. for the time being. It has only 10 seconds cooldown and a mana cost of 50, LOL. Check this out Illuminate, Chakra, Illuminate, Chakra .....huge damage, i don't have to say more. Mana Leak (E)"Casts a powerful inhibiting magic on another unit. Should they cast a spell, a portion of their remaining mana leaks away. Lasts 22 seconds." This is more a support spell which you can use occasionally on heroes with high damaging spells/ultimates to get rid of there mana pool. This cost 50 mana to cast again as the others and has 15 seconds cooldown. At lvl 4 80% of there mana leaks away, pfff... that's more than annoying to them.

Ignis Fatuus (F) This is your ULTIMATE, and has a huge power."Summons the Spirit of Light to assist the Sentinel. Can attack, liberate deceased units as allies, transport himself at will, and is difficult to hit. Lasts 90 seconds." So this summons a ball of light that can teleport at will anywhere on the map has phase shift so its hard to hit but the important thing beside that it attacks is that it raises "souls" from corpses that are able to heal. You can make an army of healers, this is useful. It costs 400 mana has 600 hp and 35-46 damage.

Dirge - The Undying

This hero is very powerful and if you know the right strategy to play, most likely you will always be able to get 1 step ahead of your enemies, or when needed you will be able to disappear fast. As you know this is an Intelligence HERO but, i mean a huge BUT, this hero's strength resides in his STRENGTH and hp.

Of course you will need to buy intelligence items or combinations but you always should get some strength items or combine with intelligence for best effects. This hero is strong and has huge health. OK, now that we know about the items you should buy let's see the, abracadabra, the spells: I don't know if this is the most important spell in it's pocket but for me this is the primary spellHeartstopper Aura (T)"The Dirge's deathly air stills the hearts of his opponents, causing them to lose 1% of their max health over time."

In an 1000 AOE at lvl 4. And most importantly this spell is passive so it is always active, no mana needed. I just love it when they are in range and start loosing there health, sometimes when they flee a fight they will die while running. HAHAHA Another important spell is Raise Dead (D)"Calls the Undying' s fellow zombies out of the earth to fight. Once a zombie attacks six times, another one will rise alongside it. When a zombie dies, its reanimating life force returns to Dirge, healing him by 50 hp. Lasts 30 seconds."

These zombies are just awesome, you can summon as many as 4 Zombies at lvl 4 for 160 mana cost, but as they fight they will be more and if you buy some aura giving items they will last for sure and you will have a huge army which will heal you when it dies so it's a good deal for sure. This has a 30 second cooldown to cast. Soul Rip (R)"Redirects the flow of living energy through a target friend or foe, damaging them or healing them depending on how many unites are near it." So at lvl 4 it damages or heals for 20 points x as many units the target has beside it. if there is a huge army then you can make the math...

This spell is very useful has 30 seconds cooldown and you can cast it for 125 mana at lvl 4, i don't use it that much coz it don't do much on 1on1 only if there allot of creeps/units. Your ultimate is Awesome i like this ultimate it is like poison every one gets infected.Plague (E)"Infects the target with a plague. Reduces movement speed by 30% and amplifies incoming damage. Infects other units that come within range of a plagued unit." Wow at lvl 3 it amplifies damage by 35% that is enough for any hero to die in that encounter well of course unless he's scared and manages to run away. This has only 45 seconds cooldown, and a mana cost of 150.

Read this guide carefully for it will be the most important PL guide you have ever heard or thought of.Phantom Lancer a great hero by any means, with his ability to turn from one hero to several in a matter of seconds I am often confused why he is used so incorrectly! Many noobs will try to use PL as a fast attacking mana burning maniac! This is incorrect! let me say again this is incorrect!

When using PL it is necessary to understand that he doesn't need much damage or attack speed because he has 10 of him attacking one hero. This is the same as when you have 4 Meepo's attacking one hero, understand? You get the same results! So here we go this is the secret to PL it is quite easy are you listening? It is to make him the strongest meat shield in the game!

How do we do this? With HEARTS, get at least 2 of these then if you must get manta style. Trust me on this one and there will be no ends to noobs crying for mercy and dropping off like flies!!!!

Here at DOTA Tips we have been trying to get this guy to post on our site for several months. One of the true masters of DOTA and able to play almost any hero in the game, 'Matter' has been a player since DOTA Allstars were born a few years ago. In todays game ladies and gents (yes ladies do play this game, more then you think...) we had an -arem game. Apparently in DOTA, 11% are female players in BattleNet.

During this game our team was on the winning side, until they got cocky and started to chase them when the opponent was on low HP - so where did the opponent run to? to there team mates of course, getting the chases to chase them into an ambush, therefore getting ganked. the 2 of the players in our team where agueing and calling each other "YOU F&%KING NOOB!", after a chase and unsuccessful kill, they both left at the same time, and the third player left has well.

Well it was an AR game but i was able to get one of my faverout characters, the one and only who can own all 5 players at once if the right items are bought. so using the 3 leaves items, i managed to get the battle fury, hyper stone, santanic, power treads and basher. let me tell you that we did eventually loose, not after i got a dominating set of kills :)here is the replay, and have a look at how the might dragon knight can own :) enjoy...

A great DOTA hero he was my first hero with whom i could put fear in any other enemy hero, when they saw me they just ran always. I will tell you why they ran like little roaches. Aba is a strength hero but very fast and versatile so it's one to fear on the field. I always laugh when i see them running away. You can play different play stiles with this one you can either go on strength/agility/intelligence its our choice but i tell you this you will need MANA for sure whichever you choose.

The spell they fear, the spell that deal damage, the spell you should use is Aphotic Shield (T) Summons dark energies around an ally unit, creating a shield that absorbs a set amount of damage before expiring. When the shield is destroyed it will deal damage equal to the amount it absorbed to an area around it. If cast on self while using borrowed time, the damage you take will heal you. Removes certain types of negative buffs on cast. Lasts 20 seconds. At lvl 4 this will absorb and deal 275 damage in an area around itself, it costs 100 mana to cast and has 25 seconds cooldown. LVL this up fast.

VERY IMPORTANT USE THE SHIELD ALWAYS ON DOTA CREEPS only use it on yourself or your friendly heroes when needed. Creeps will be front line of battle and will absorb more damage in a lower time so you need the shield on the creeps at all times. When the enemy sees the shield he will retreat every time.

Death Coil (C) A coil of death that can damage an enemy unit or heal a friendly unit at the cost of his own life. Manacost decreases per level. This will heal or damage for 250 HP. Deals 125 HP to himself. This spell i always let to the endgame and lvl it up as last. I barely use it ever it wont do much healing or damage so you should leave this aside.

Frostmourne Abaddon strikes an enemy with Frostmourne' s chilling power on each attack, causing all units who attack the slowed enemy to gain 10% increased movement speed, along with faster attack speed, for a limited time. This is a passive spell and is very useful you can lvl this up alongside with the shield. You will slow the enemy and attack faster very good. At lvl 4 you will have 40% increased attack speed, and slow enemy by 20%. hahaha

Your ultimate spell Borrowed Time When activated, most negative buffs will be removed and you will no longer take damage for the duration of the ability. If the ability is not in cooldown, it will passively activate when your hit points drop below 400. This spell is good when you don't seem to have any more chance, no where to run, when it activates you can run fast and away, and when activated put shield on yourself that way the damage you take will actually heal you.

Ever wish there was a Zeus on your DOTA team because that lucky hero just keeps getting away with practically no HP whatsoever?

Well I'm here to tell you wish no more! With the new and improved CROW Icefrog has added a carrier that is faster than most heroes and invulnerable for short periods of time. These bonuses are better than almost any hero has in the game. Whats even better is that this carrier has mana capacity enough to use the BKB, and even better the Dagon! So wish no more about killing pesky opponents who get out of your reach with no HP!

The process for using this skill is very easy! Get a crow or vulture carrier and equip it with a dagon! Keep this carrier near the enemies base out of sight and reach! When that lucky hero gets out of your reach with no HP send in the Airforce to Dagon Him/Her! It is will bring you unmeasurable joy when the opponent starts the trash talking about juked, being a pro, or being just plain lucky when you swoop in and Bam-Animality! Dagon Death!

So to all those people who continually get away with no HP and think they are Pros! This piece is for you! Beware of the BIRD! Your luck has run out!

DOTA: Troll Warlord Strategy Guide

In this guide we will discuss about Troll warlord a hero all about speed he es very fast all his spells are about attack speed and stun and so on.

Your primary spell i think will be: .... well in my opinion the most important of your spell will be the passive spell Fervor (F)Passively increases the attack speed of all nearby friendly units. This will increase the attack speed by 30% and if you will buy any other items for attack speed or agility then you will hit few times faster then any of them, so when they see you they are probably dead already just they don't know it yet or they know and will try to run, hehehe. You should lvl up this spell as soon as you can so that you have the plus 30% attack speed besides your items.

Blind (D) A searing light blinds the vision of a target enemy unit, making it miss on some attacks. This is a very useful spell because it can be set to auto cast :P that way your enemies will miss on 42% of attacks this cost only 20 mana and has 8 seconds cooldown so this wont be a problem.

Well the next spell is very good to but you must know when to use it Berserker Rage (G) Jah`rakal goes berserk, using his throwing axes as a melee weapon. He gains bonus damage, hit points, armor, and the Bash ability, but can only attack at melee range.This is good when you get close to the enemy hero or your just farming. This will give you 10% chance to bash and deal 50 bonus damage and stun for 2 seconds. Very good for close encounters with a melee hero, but use it wisely so u wont get caught.

And your ultimate this is what i like most Rampage (R) Jah`rakal goes into a feral rampage, increasing his attack and movement speeds. Lasts 30 seconds. This Increases your attack speed by 120% and movement speed by 11%. + your passive 30% from fervor and any other items and agility that will add you some more attack speed .... i don't have to say more i think.

The most important item you should always buy is Helm of The Dominator this will give you 15% life steal and with your speed and high damage you wont have trouble with your life for sure. You should try buying a Necronomicon to so you will receive the summoned archers boost to attack and movement speed to and truesite from the warriors. Here is the replay to so you can watch a troll in action i played Sven in this game i can say very poorly but i don't get Sven many times but.... i managed.

Slithice - The Naga Siren

Have you ever got slitherin dota allstars? But you newer knew what to do with it and how to play this hero.. well just read on and find out all about this Naga Siren. She has damage she is fast but more important is that she can make mirror images of herself.

And this will be you primary spell Mirror Image (R) Confuses the enemy by summoning copies of Slithice, which can deal damage. Images take triple damage. Lasts 30 seconds. At lvl 4 you have 3 illusions of yourself that deal 45% damage. 150 mana cost and 60 seconds cooldown. You will need to lvl this up early so you can deal more damage and if needed escape more "elegantly".

IMPORTANT ITEM for this hero is MANTA STYLE and i think you know why i say this because you can make 3 mirror images with your spell and another 2 with this so you will have 5 illusion with you, you can try a Refresher Orb to but you will need a lot of mana.

You with your illusions will deal a lot of damage to your enemies, so we are going to the next spell that is Critical Strike You will need this to early in the game so lv it up fast to help yourself and your images to deal more damage. This will give you chance to do deal 1.5 times damage on an attack on 45% of each attack. So many illusions with crit.... should i say more?

If they want to escape just use your Ensnere (E) spell for 115 mana and 15 seconds cooldown, so you can catch them easly and assault them with your illusions to. Entraps an enemy unit in a net, rendering the unit unable to move for 5 seconds. He wont make it 5 seconds when you attack.

Your ultimate is somewhat noobish i could say, i barely use this spell Song of the Siren (G) Slithice sings a tempting song. Enemy units near her are put to sleep for 8 seconds. Well it is useful only if you want to escape or if you want to immobilize your enemies until help arrives.... I don't like this spell.

DOTA Allstars: Mogul Khan - The Axe Guide

You cant Escape.

If u get this hero and you know how to play him they wont be able to escape your fierce battle hunger. He is a Strength hero so you can acquire a lot of Health and Damage to. This hero is built to kill, and if there are more attacking him the best he performs on his duty, if they outnumber you you will kill them faster. I saw many players with this hero and some of them were to be afraid of, they handled the spells and items like no other and they caught me always every time.

I should say the primary spell that you will need is Counter Helix "Mogul Kahn counters some blows made to him by taking the attacking unit and swinging it around violently, dealing damage to all nearby enemy units.15% chance to counter throughout all levels" you will have to lvl this spell early to gain advantage against the enemy hordes. This is a passive spell. So as i said before the more they are the often you will cast this counter spell. Very useful.

With Battle Hunger (R) you can really piss off the enemy heroes "Afflicts a target with a terrible killing hunger. The target will take damage per second until it kills a unit." Which means 25 damage/second, for 25 seconds at lvl 4 for 135 mana and 25 seconds cooldown.. You can cast this on a fleeing hero and he will die eventually. Or you can just cast it when you attack the hero so it takes damage from you and the spell when hes focusing on you and not on the killing of the creeps.

Berserker's Call (E) "Mogul Kahn focuses all of his enemy's hatred on him, causing them to attack him at all costs. 275 AOE." This is very useful considering the more they attack you the faster you counter them with damage. If they try to run just cast this spell so they MUST stay and attack you at all costs. It lasts 3 seconds and you get 20 bonus armor - very useful, it cost 110 mana and has 15 second cooldown.

The last spell, your ultimate Culling Blade (C) "Purges the weak from Mogul Kahn's sight. Deals moderate damage, but will kill a target that is low on life." Deals 300 damage, but will kill unit if its health is below 625. This will cost you 160 mana to cast and has a 90 seconds cooldown.

The most important item for this hero is Vanguard it costs 2275 4hp regen / second +250 Hit points and 65% to block 35 damage, you will need at least two of these. And after that any other good item is welcome. There you have it another fine product, check back soon.

This is for all you out there who have been wondering how to defeat a team that are always together using DOTA ganking and DOTA raping they seem like a brick wall that is unpenetratable.

Well when most people start with Pudge they start with the stats about him like everyone doesn't know what he does and what he's got!Starting with team player Pudge: When game starts you will need 1 ring of regen, 1 circlet, and 2 ironwood branches. Start out in mid and level up till 6. When you get 6 go get some boots and start hunting!

point is by level 11 I want you to have a mek and an arcane ring! These are essential to keeping you and your team on top at all times. The rest is pretty obvious on how to break an unbeatable team. Keep you teammates close and break that wall down one hero at a time. Hook enemies in one at a time and WATCH THE CARNAGE AS A TEAM OF 5 DESTROYS ONE HERO!

Soon that unbeatable team will be crying like babies and custom kicking you so fast your head spins. That is the real Pudge. I have seen him many times in action and he will eat you so beware and watch your step! Last of all I want to dedicate this piece to all those sad sacks who use the CUSTOM KICK feature on WC3Banlist to kick players when they are getting Pawned! I still love you and I ain't mad at you, but watch it or you may be next!

"DOTA Allstars" Guide to Puck The Firey (Faerie) Dragon

In this Dota Allstars guide we will discuss the power of Puck - The fiery Dragon. This hero is one of my loved ones, if i get this when i play in -arem or -dmarem -apem etc I'm always very happy and i know my team will probably win the game :P.

Few people like puck because of its low health and maybe they don't know what spells to use and in which way. I don't get this hero to often but when i get it i always kill kill and kill, sometimes i die 1 time in a game but that's OK when i kill 15 times in a game at least.

Anyway enough with the chit-chat let us see what this birdie can do for the team and against the other team. And hey, if you aren't a fan of this DOTA Allstars hero, then go stick to your little "Tower Defence mod" ok? Or maybe "Pudge Wars"! :)

First of all he is an intelligence hero and you will need a lot of intelligence and so a huge amount of mana that you can spend as the game advances. I say this because all of his spell have a very fast cooldown between 6-15 seconds without the ultimate that has 85 seconds cooldown. So you will need to buy many intelligence items, this is a must.

The strongest and the most useful spell is the Illusory Orb (R) "Sends a magic orb flying down a straight path damaging everything in its way. At any time during the life of the orb the Faerie Dragon may teleport up to it, taking its place. It has 1800 Range, that's allot and a 225 AOE damage. It costs you 125 mana to cast and has only 15 second cooldown so you can use this many times just your mana has to last. You can really annoy heroes with this spell as you can cast it from far away and still get them.

Or if you want to chase a hero just cast the orb let it fly and when its close to the hero just teleport in its place :P that's really great, and you can escape the same way to. Wanning Rift (W) is the next spell it is very useful to but i only use it when i think I'm in trouble, i gather and manage my mana so i can cast many illusory orbs. This spell releases Puck's mystical faerie dust around him dealing damage and silencing enemies in a 400 AOE Deals 240 damage and silences for 3 seconds, now this is useful don't u think?

The next spell will be Phase Shift (F) you can set this to auto cast, when used shifts the Faerie Dragon out of existence for a brief period, temporarily avoiding any further damage.Mana cost 20 Cooldown 6 seconds and up to 3 seconds out of existence. I write here only about the last i mean the max lvl of the spells, so you know. I don't really use this spell, although it's useful i let it always be the last to level.

And finally we get to the Ultimate Dream Coil (C) Puck's powerful imagination engulfs an area, creating coils of volatile magic that damages and stuns enemy units as it latches on to them. Stretching the coils beyond 600 range causes it to snap and deal additional damage and stun time. Which means it deals initially 200 damage and 0.5 seconds stun and when they run and the coil brakes they receive an additional 200 damage and 3 second stun. You can always kill or put them on the run with this one for sure.

As far as what items to buy i don't really have an idea of the best items for this hero just buy intelligence stuff and the other useful boots etc maybe Linken Sphere. Check back soon as i will write another "DOTA Allstars guide" in the next day or two days.

DOTA: Storm Spirit Guide

The Storm is coming, time to seek protection, because in 'DOTA Storm Spirit' wont stop coming and wont stop building up its strength and finally it will catch you.

DOTA Strategy: Raijin Thunderkeg (Storm Spirit)

This hero is very fast i mean very fast and HE will catch anyone who dares to run in seek of protection. He's main Strength is it's huge agility with which he can out battle any other hero on the field.

Your main spell here will be Overload (V) This is a passive skill which u MUST lvl up early in the game. "Each successful attack builds up a static charge, eventually releasing in the form for an electrical burst. The burst deals damage and does a minor Purge-like effect to the attacked foe and nearby area." At lvl 4 this build up will take place after 5 Attacks and the burst will deal an extra 75 Damage in a small aoe and purge them. With this skill high and a good attack speed so you can build up fast they will always be on the running when they see you, as the burst will slow them they will be easy target. You must use this (well it's a passive skill so you don't have to use it ("literally") in association with Electric Rave that i will discuss now.

Electric Rave (E) this skill "Transfers mana into pure electric current at a rapid rate, increasing the Storm Spirit's attack speed by 20% for 6 mana per second (at lvl 1) at lvl 4 this will be a 80% speed burst for 15 mana /second so you will need mana, and lots of it. This will be the secondary spell as you need to attack as fast as you can.
This is your Primary Objective to be as fast as you can.

The third spell i have to say i don't use it never, it is Barrier (R) it Shields a target with Raijin's discharged mana, resisting spell damage while under the effect. Lasts 20 seconds, Prevents 600 magical damage at lvl 4 and costs 75 mana to cast and it has only a 15 second cooldown. Well its probably useful sometimes but i didn't use it that much so you experiment with it.

You will use your Ultimate pretty often because its a very powerful spell with this spell you can catch anyone in 1200 range at lvl3 or you can just travel fast. Lightning Grapple (G) Creates an electrical attraction between the Storm Spirit and a target area, pulling him and all nearby units to that point. This is very useful if the enemy runs into base and you are near him just point outside and he will travel with you back into the battle, or you can travel with your nearby allies to a nearby enemy hero/tower. I like this Ulti allot and it's actually very funny to see all them around you as you travel to 1 point hehe.

You should but any item that gives you attack speed and/or agility Lothar's Edge would be a good choice to buy in any case and any item with hyperstone or agility is a must try buying only hyperstones see what happens.

Pugna Strategy: How to play Pugna in DOTA and WIN:

Today we will discuss about another hero that gets underestimated, he is a freakish little guy with a huge head lol just look at him and watch as He walks across the map u just cant stop laughing about him, well this little guy named Pugna -

The Oblivion is actually a very powerful hero, in fact i will demonstrate it to all of you just about now. If you like to solo or you just like to attack with the team or either be a support hero this guy has got packed all up in its stash of spells, and i mean "very powerful spells he has" and if you know the right items you will win and lead your team to that all time wanted victory. Well, some would say that your primary spell will be Nether Blast with Decrepify on heroes so you increase the spell damage dealt and your ultimate of course.

Well they are all wrong my friends, your main and most powerful spell is: .......... Nether Ward, if you lvl this up early the enemy heroes will be very annoyed and will all the time focus on destroying your ward not paying attention to the game and the map, you can really distract them with this, but if you know the right place where to put it and then use your other spells they will just end up dead for sure, you can easily get multi kill with Nether Ward.

So let's seeNether Ward (W) it costs 80 mana to cast at lvl 4 and has 30 seconds cooldown, has 400hp (not important at all), it reduces the enemies mana regeneration by 600% (this means that they wont regenerate any mana soon), and the most important ability: Mana Flare that is cast automatically when any enemy hero cast a spell and it deals 1.5damage / mana spent. Let me explain. If the enemy hero cast a spell that needs 300mana he will receive 300x1.5 damage, you do the math. So this is your primary spell the others can wait.

You just have to find the right spot where to put this "rod", i personally like to put it in the woods or near the tower or behind the tower, it has 1600 AOE so you can put it pretty far so they cant see/find it. Try this out and you will be amazed by the power. Nether Blast (B) it costs 145 mana to cast at lvl 4 and deals an astonishing 325 damage to units and 100 to buildings, well you say that's not that much and your right but don't forget that it has just 5 seconds cooldown so you can cast one after the other, now that will stack up.

You can destroy the enemy creeps and building pretty fast and farm as good to. Some will use only this spell along the Decrepify only and maybe never use the Nether Ward. Decrepify (C) (100mana 7s cooldown) with this spell you can put your enemies in an ethereal plane for a few seconds (3,5s at lvl 4)rendering them unable to attack and making there movement speed less with 50%, but the important factor is that they will receive an extra 40% damage from spells, OMG. And finally Your Ultimate, Life Drain (D) mana cost 225 at lvl 4, only 20 second cooldown lol, and it drains 185 hp / second or 300 hp / second with Aghanim's Scepter.....well that's allot.

If you like this spell and want to use it the most important thing to know that this spell is channeling over 9seconds so if u get stun or something like that it will stop. SO you just have to buy Black King Bar this will give you 10seconds avatar so you wont get interrupted maybe with 1 or 2 exceptions. So if this is your primary spell then BKB is a must.

You can buy any items that you think will be good for him, but you probably will need hp/armor/spell reduction. So you just buy some items that add to these and you ll be just fine. I like Linken Sphere, the other you will find out. Just keep it up and play dota more often.

What are you a pro or a noob?

DOTA games are very popular on BattleNet, and it's the most popular custom game ever, if you never played it you must try it out and you will find out that what I'm writing next, will probably fit you and your play stile precisely.

If you are a pro player just bring back the memories and laugh, because you were a noob some day to don't you forget that, you were learning to, step by step, the game, the heroes and items ... and what this map is all about and finally you found the beauty and maybe you never loose a game now but what about the past when they were laughing at you? Then you cried and fought them back as you best could but senseless.

As a pro you learned to master the maps every inch you know the forest as your palm, you don't mind randomizing any hero because you know how to play that particular hero and what items you should use along side. But a noob player that just entered his first game, as you were once, he don't know what to do with that hero, what spells to use how to lvl up, where to go ... and so on.

Probably he will buy an item that has a nice Icon or color or just one that looks good to him not knowing if that item helps or not at all. A noob will go and attack on one lane and probably end up dieing fast because he wont pay attention to its hp and will stay and attack till the end. HAHA. Yes, I'm laughing to now, but i was like that to so i know what this is all about. And you all know that we could say much more about the pros and the noobs to, but the important thing is to play fair don't talk rude and don't harass the other player this game is all about team play so let them be they will learn to. DOTA: Starting the Game

Do you never know how to start a game? Are you in trouble deciding what to buy first in game? You will need to regenerate your mana and health all the way through out the game so think carefully.

Ring of Health is a good choice, it gives you 4hp/second regeneration and you can make some combinations with other items later in the game.You can buy either 2x Ring of Regeneration which can be used later on for some recipes to.

Do you need mana? Void Stone is a very popular choice but i must say Sobi mask is more frequently used and gives you a larger selection of recipes to. Later in game you can buy of course Mekansm and Arcane Ring, Mekansm gives you allot of attributes:+5 to all attributes, +5 armor, 3hp/sec regeneration aura, and if u activate it for 150 mana it gives 2 bonus armor for friendly units in an area around you and restores 250hp to.

Arcane ring is especially for casters it gives you 300 mana and +3 armor and if u use it it restores 135 mana in an area around you at the cost of 25 mana it has 33seconds cooldown. But the most useful things is: ...... "Empty Bottle" this is the most powerful regenerating item in the game, well yeah you could buy lesser clarity potions for just 50g but this regenerates 100 mana over 30 seconds that's a very long time that you must stay away from getting attacked, and for health you could buy Flask of Saphire Water that regenerates 400hp over 10 seconds this is still to slow and it cost you 100g, and there is Ancient Tango of Essifation that costs 80g and lets you eat trees for 100hp / tree eaten.

But, and most importantly these without the items of course are Consumables you use them and they disappear so you buy them you spend your gold and they get used up so that's not a good deal at all.Lets get back to the Empty Bottle! This bottle is very useful in all situations and more important is its very fast regenerating property, it regenerates 200 health and 75 mana over only 3 seconds, now you must admit that is fast 1 . 2 . 3 and your regenerated.

When you purchase it you will have two uses then the bottle is empty, but no worries you just go and capture a magical rune, one of the two that is constantly appearing on the two spots along the river. The funny part is that you can capture the rune for 2 minutes so u capture lets say invisibility or double damage or whatever and u use it when you want in the 2 minutes limit, and when u use it the flask will be filled up again.

These runes reappear every 2 minutes after the game starts so its plenty of them, and if u look at the game time in the right side drop down hero panel in dota game and pay attention to it you can even get 2 at a time just go lets say at "10:50" 10minutes and 50seconds to get a rune then move back so the other can reappear and then go get that one to lol.

Easier than that you can buy some observer,sentry wards and put them near the runes so you have 6 minutes of visibility of that location, that way you wont miss a rune. So its your choice what you buy and how you use it, maybe there are others to but these are the most important and frequently used.You should definitely try out Empty Bottle you wont regret it. Meepo: Geomancer's guide

Hit or Run that is the right question when u see this awk little blueish guy.
Well if u know the pros and cons of this hero you can't loose, never. Meepo is probably the best hero there is in dota, you ask why?, well because hes not just 1 hero, he is 4in1 you got 4 heroes with his ultimate spell.

Divided We Wtand"Meepo summons an imperfect, semi-autonomous duplicate of himself, which can gain gold and experience and abilities. However, the clones cannot wield any items but the boots that Meepo himself wears. If one clone dies, they all die.

Ok, let me explain:First of all your primary item will be Mekansm. You must focus on getting this as fast as you can, this will help you kill Roshan ALONE at lvl 12, well i did so you just try and you will see it works, just atack roshan with your 3 meepos now, and when 1 of them looses to much health just take it back and let roshan atack another one then you send all back atacking and so on.

When all of meepo's health are low just use Mekansm and your back in business again. Trust me it works. I killed roshan 3 times alone in one game having low lvl. OMG Earthbind (E) this is your catch and kill spell, all of your meepo's can use this spell so the enemy never escapes when you throw one net after the other as you attack. Level this skill early, you will need it.This costs 100 mana and has 10 seconds cooldown. On 1on1 they have no chance.

Geostrike, a passive spell/skill lvl up this one early to, it gives 20% slow and 15dmg/second for 2 seconds, this is more than enough if they manage to run somehow.

Poof (F), i personally let this skill be the last to put points in, you will probably find guides that tell you how to use and what powerfull this spell is but me, i don't like it but its your choice how you play this hero. With this spell Meepo can teleport to another Geomancer dealing 160 damage in a 400 AOE (range), it uses up 180 mana and has 30 seconds cooldown.

I have seen player's own the game with meepo with just two items Mekansm and Boots of Speed, you should buy these no matter what you buy next.Then you could buy Assault Cuirass or whatever items that have an aura that will help your team and your geomancers to.

You can always let a geomancer stand near the battle to gain xp, and farm with the others or vice versa, you will make as much money that you never imagined. The best player i have ever seen playing meepo was Stiflur on Europe server. This guide goes to his credit. Keep the dota games running and check back soon for another winning guide.

Morphling Strategy and Build for DOTA by "maxq maxq"

Morphling is one of the best heroes in the game, it is very powerful if u know how to use it's abilities and buy the right items.

lets see:
It is very important! do not put more then 1 skill point into MORPH skill because it's more then enough. Morph (R) "The Morphling edits his physical being to fit the circumstances. He can, at will, lose some strength and gain agility, or vice versa. The process is reversible". HAHA here is the trick, the best strategy that i know of and seen it work is this: Buy many strength items Sange and Yasha is a good choice but u must use any strength combination you want. At this point you can/must morph your strength in agility and leave it that way. I saw that if u have enough strength !!!-from items-!!! u have at least 1000hp if your primary Strength is 1-2, but your agility will be very high and you will be fast and powerfull.

Waveform (W) (120 mana)"The Morphling dissolves into his components and surges forward, dealing damage to everything in his wake". This your primary kill and escape skill, this has high damage 325 at lvl 4 and OMG only 10 seconds cooldown, u can own them with this skill only, use it as many times as you can and you will make a lot of money to.

Think of these scenarios, if u buy Lothar' s Edge use it and you will be invisible go between the enemy creeps/heroes and waveform out so you will deal damage and they will not catch you, same thing with Kalen's Dagger of Escape, but you can do it the other way to.

Adaptive Strike (E) (100 mana) "Blasts a target with magical energy, dealing damage or disabling the target based on the Morphling's dominant attribute between Agility and Strength". i think i don't have to say much here, more agility more damage. It has 20 second cooldown and at lvl 4 it deals "120 + 2.6x Agility in damage or stuns the target 2.6 seconds and knocks back slightly".

And now your ultimate skill:REPLICATE (D) (200 mana 120 seconds cooldown) well this skill is the best there is."The Morphling has the unique ability to replicate any target friendly or enemy hero. Although it only deals 50% damage, the hero can morph into his replication, instantly taking its position."JUST find the best hero on the other side replicate him and there u have it, another hero like that but it's your to control for 60 seconds at lvl 3, let him battle with himself, haha. Don't forget to buy items like Hyperstone, and boot's of speed or travel, that way u can catch them for sure.

Today, Andrei one of our newest DOTA writers - tells us the true story about DOTA leavers, the folks that ruin the game. Its a topic that Blizzard and IceFrog are working hard to fix - until then, Andrei says:

Ok, guys seems that’s it. Leavers at DotA games started to die out like dinosaurs. I am talking about open DotA games at battle.net of course. I have started DotA very, very long time ago – 4 or 5 years ago. And I really can see the difference. Especially I remember those times, when DotA was loading for about 10 minutes. Leavers were hated so much that I even can’t express.

So while time was passing by I noticed that there became more leaverless games. Why is this happening? I think that we got one main factor here. Some people got pissed off leaves so much, that they just created some programs to prevent leavers from joining their games. The first steps, who made DotA games more clean was Knarf with his Wc3Banlist program. That was a revolution that time. People got like crazy about possibility to ban a leaver and never ever see him in the game again. Banlist was a musthave tool for all DotA players for several years, until suddenly everyone realized that it’s not working anymore. Actually it never worked. People took Banlist like placebo – they just believed in it. The thing was is that by banning people you really will not see him again, but nothing stopped people to create new battle.net account within just a minute. So people got hundreds of thousands of banned people. But they almost never seen them again.

Recently a new team stepped in this battle. A team of guys that presented DotArank program to the DotA world. Actually no one believed in it. Their idea was absolutely opposite from banlist’s. Instead of penalizing bad, they honored good. Also they have created a ladder for DotA players, the thing that was just unbelievable to ever exist. DotArank is much younger than Banlist now, they started about 6-8 months ago, but got very impressive results. Personally I switched from banlist to dotarank couple of months ago and wonder happened. Every game I see lots of ranked people. And I can view how many games each of them played, left, won or lost. I can decide who will play in my game. And if I nthe game all 10 players are ranked I rarely have anybody leave. Really very rare.

So what I can say in the end – DotA lives. With so much efforts put by the DotA community to make games more fun and interesting, I believe DotA is almost ready for it’s next battle. I hope everyone understand that I am talking about Starcraft 2. Really there are tons of speculations about this. Will DotA survive SC2 release or not – the time will show. But the one thing you can be sure - that DotA is ready!

DOTA SURVIVAL AND GETAWAY

This guide should help all you noobs out there, who want to get better and dont leave the game as soon as it starts or as soon as you get ganked or killed. As we all know most important for surviveing in dota first of all is your HP, when its starting to fall to fast u have 3 choices: to die, to suicide (if you can),or to get away as fast as you can. I wont talk about the first two only about the third. First of all you should buy Ring of Health or Ring of Regen as soon as the game starts, this is a must have, to counter the effects of dmg when u lvl up near your tower. Try staying near the tower for first few levels and just atack, if you get damaged your ring of health/regen will help you get back in shape. If u have enough money go back and spend it on whatever suits you and your hero. Now the Getaway partWell probably most important for getting away is to pay attention all the time to the minimap. If you are alone or you are maybe with 1 hero on the lane but all the enemy heroes or some disappeared from the minimap/map more than probably they are on there way to gank you, this is the best time for you to get back near a tower for protection (wont work every time if they catch you so go further back), and signal your team whats happening. There are a few items u could use that will most likely save you and put you in advantage.First of all is Boots of Travel, this is my personal best. It has 60s cooldown and teleports you fast 3-5s anywhere near your units,or buildings on the map and gives you +90 move speed.If you feel in danger you just teleport away then you can go back as fast as u left. Kelens Dagger of Escape is a good choice to, for short distances blink 200-1000 range. But this is for more experienced players to use who know the map really good and now where you can hide but it has only 25s cooldown so u can blink run blink. And the last you can try is Lothar's Edge that gives you damage agility but the important factos is wind walk which means 9 seconds invisibility and 15% move speed for that fast getaway. Buy Ring of HP/Regen, watch the map, know the map and play carefully.

So I asked some other Battle.Net people and this is what they said, "Definitely neutral-farming is the best way to get gold quickly in DOTA" others said that "I think start creating mayhem early in the game, and some said that "Just don't let others destroy towers so you can get the money".

I am really confused in what will I believe because, their advice can really help you in the game (some peoples can) and I don't know how to judge the suggestions!

But for me, I always remembe this - create your own strategy, believe in yourself, never give up, and don't cheat; this words will help you be the strongest.

Today we've got a DOTA Strategy and build up for Chen. In DOTA; Chen needs to be played primarily as a 'support hero' however - Chen also has the power to be a killing hero, you must choose your time right and only engage when its the right time (at other times keep to supporting your DOTA team mates!) (Warcraft3)

Prophesizing a new dawn, a new world cleansed of the old evils, the Holy Knight's entrance into the war against the Scourge forever changed the course of history. A crusader riding under the banner of Hextar, the Holy Knight promises ever-lasting glory and redemption for those who march with him, and obstacles ahead to test the faith of all those sworn to forever cleanse evil from the land. Fanatically devoted to his cause, his followers come from every race, every background, and will stop at nothing to see the Scourge destroyed. If ever the redeeming hand of God touched earth, its name was Chen, the Holy Knight.

Penitence (E)
Forces a unit to accept punishment for their sins, causing them to move slower and accept more damage from attacks or spells. Lasts 7 seconds.
Level 1 - 8% movement speed reduction, and 7% increased damage taken.
Level 2 - 16% movement speed reduction, and 14% increased damage taken.
Level 3 - 24% movement speed reduction, and 21% increased damage taken.
Level 4 - 32% movement speed reduction, and 28% increased damage taken.
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 15

Test of Faith (F)
If cast on enemy, will deal variable damage based on the units faith.
If cast on allied Hero, it will teleport him to the fountain. Allies can ignore the effect of Test of Faith by typing -disablehelp in advance, and type -enablehelp if they need it.
Instantly teleports Chen`s persuaded units to the fountain.

Tiny (Stone Giant) Strategy

Today on DOTA Tips - I thought we would post the standard strategy for playing Tiny (Stone Giant) a popular hero and fairly easy to use within DOTA. Personally Tiny is one of my fav Warcraft3 men!

Ok - heres the basic start (Feel free to comment on this post with your ideas or changes)

Rugged combat hero, specializing in hitting slow but hard.

Tiny - The Stone Giant
Range: 128 | Move Speed: 285
Primary: STR
Str: 24 + 3 | Agi: 9 + 0.9 | Int: 14 + 1.6
Damage: 61 – 67 | HP: 606 | Mana: 182
HP Regen: 0.97 | Mana Regen: 0.57
Attack Speed: 1.55 | Armor: -1

Avalanche (V)
Send 4 to 5 piles of rocks on an area of 200 AoE to stun and damage enemy land units. Each pile of rock stuns around 0.25 second, and the whole process lasts around 2 seconds.
Level 1 - 100 damage.
Level 2 - 180 damage.
Level 3 - 260 damage.
Level 4 - 300 damage.
Mana Cost: 120
Cooldown: 18

Toss (T)
Tiny grabs the nearest unit, friend or foe, and launches them at a location. Upon landing, the unit deals damage in an area as well as receiving 20% of that damage to themselves (this damage increases as your size increases). Cannot toss Elder Form DK.
Level 1 - 500 range, 75 damage.
Level 2 - 700 range, 150 damage.
Level 3 - 900 range, 225 damage.
Level 4 - 1100 range, 300 damage.
Mana Cost: 120
Cooldown: 13

Craggy Exterior (C)
Tiny`s body is made of solid granite, causing great pain to those who attack it. Whenever a melee unit attacks Tiny, there is a chance that they will be stunned for 2 seconds. Tiny will not take damage if he stuns the enemy for that particular hit.
Level 1 - 6% chance, 25 stun damage.
Level 2 - 12% chance, 35 stun damage.
Level 3 - 18% chance, 45 stun damage.
Level 4 - 24% chance, 55 stun damage.
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A

Grow (W)
Greatly increases Tiny`s power and size, but does so at the cost of his attack speed. Will reset all cooldowns.
Level 1 - 40 bonus damage, 5 bonus speed, 20% reduced attack speed.
Level 2 - 80 bonus damage, 10 bonus speed, 35% reduced attack speed.
Level 3 - 120 bonus damage, 15 bonus speed, 50% reduced attack speed.
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A

DOTA World Rankings by Country

I thought I should clarify our last post on the current DOTA (Warcraft 3 Mod) champion countries around the world.

The positions are ranked by overall tournament wins (officially recorded DOTAvictories in major tournaments)

The top 5 DOTA nations were:

1. Philippines
2. Bolivia
3. Malaysia
4. Singapore
5. Thailand

The Philippines have always been a strong DOTA playing nation; plenty of players and lots of skill. Their biggest asset is their team work. Other nations have great skill, such as Australia and the USA - but these 2 countries tend to argue between their teams - causing several losses in big games.

Bolivia was a surprise ranked in at no.2 but their DOTA players are growing largely and quickly. They showed some lucky breaks - but were good enough to hold Rank no. 2

Malaysia are probably the country most likely to challenge the Philippines for the no.1 spot. They have more and more players achieving good success each day. Very skilful and very disciplined. The Malaysians are the next big country power in the Warcraft Mod world that is DOTA.

The latest DOTA Map v6.46b has just been released by IceFrog and his crew

The newest DotA Allstars map has bug fixes mainly. However, Bigger updates are to come in future map releases.

As we can read on the end of the changelog "Sorry for the delay and limited new features in this, lots of misc bugs and code rewrites needed priority in order to stabilize and improve the map (as a result, some content needed to be disabled until another release).". There are some nice buffs also, especially for the Morphling and Warlock:
* Lowered Replicate mana cost
* Fixed Arcane Orb from dealing bonus damage to Warlock's Infernal

A quick b patch was released to cover some issues, mainly Furion's Treant stats (0 armor, low hp and dmg), which accidentally came with .46. No big changes

DOTA AI MAPS - Noob Help

Ok, this post might not apply to some of the more advanced DOTA players and users - however for people just learning DOTA; it's an important tip and strategy suggestion.

Many people don't know that DOTA can be played in a solo mode. The AI version of the DOTA maps - allows users to play alone at home offline directly from their warcraft program.

When Icefrog releases a new DOTA map he also releases an AI version - so if you would like to play alone and test your strategy and hero against the computer (at varying skill levels) simply download and install the DOTA AI map and feel safe to test in the comfort of your own newbness.

You won't have elite DOTA players giving you a hard time about being a newby - so just try your new heros and maybe even master harder hero's such as phantom assassin, lucifer (doom bringer), lich king or stealth assassin.

DOTA - Doom / Lucifer Tips, Build, Strat

(In Warcraft 3 / DOTA) Lucifer / Doom / Doom Bringer has a brilliant silence (move), when used it silences a lot more than just your usable spells and the inventory items.

It also prevents and takes away…

1. Orb effects
2. Buffs (But not all, Insatiable Hunger is one of them and you can still lifesteal)
3. Magic immunity (Note: The hero is still in avatar mode but is still silenced and taking damage)
4. Lifesteal
5. Bash
6. Critical Strikes

The 2 heroes that are 'anti-Doom' type of hero's are

Leviathan

1. Kraken Shell lessens the time Doom takes effects.

Abaddon

1. If one of your allies was cast with Doom just cast aphotic shield on him/her to remove doom.

2. If you are the one being cast with Doom, don’t worry since borrowed time will remove Doom once it activates when your life reaches 400 below.

DOTA Cheats, Hacks in early Maps

Some DOTA Tips readers have today sent in email pointing out some DOTA hacks and cheats in early release DOTA maps.

Firstly, it is always important to be playing the latest 'official' DOTA map release from IceFrog. If you are using customer, unknown or older maps to play DOTA - it's always risky. Especially when on BattleNet with other Warcraft users.

Now, these are the DOTA hacks and cheats brought to our attention. They relate to buying certain small DOTA items - that illegally bind together to form larger recipe items:

ILLEGAL ITEM BUILDS: (Only works in DOTA Map ver 27-29)

2Bracers and 2 OgreAxe gets you: Messerschimidts Reaver + Vita booster = Heart Of tarrasque.

An eagle horn + Hand of midas + click the recipe butterfly 3 times = BUTTERFLY

2 x Headdress of Rejuvenation + click the recipe perseverance 2 times = Peserverance

2 x Ring of health + 2 x Ultimate Orb + BladeMail + click the recipe linken's sphere 3times = Orb of darkness

Orb of darkness <--- New in ver. 27-29 this item has +20 all stats 8 regen hit points per second ,150% mana regen , Effect (60 sec cooldown): Disentangle (negates a targeted spell). +50 attack damage + return damage. Sell this item for 4600.

Dark Terror / Faceless Void - is officially the most popular hero in DOTA (Warcraft3).

The perma stun ability proving too tempting for most as Faceless will surely be looked at closely by IceFrog and his team as to his powerful abilities when the next DOTA version is released.

Sentinel: Total DOTA Strategy

Sentinel Hero's:

hero 1 - Morphling
hero 2 - Chen
hero 3 - Centaur Warchief
hero 4 - Silencer
hero 5 - Vengefull Spirt

Spread out heros in this order....

Mid: silencer and Centaur: this makes a good combo,
because whatever heros you go against, intell, strength, agil, u can defeat them, Centaur can stun and acts
as a meat wall, while the silencer is also attacking, healing anf at the same time stopping the opponent
from casting spells. If heros run back push hard and cast infernals on the tower, u can usually take the tower
(if there are no heros to distract you) in 1 go if you'r lucky.

Top : Chen and the Vengefull Spirit.... They work together like this. Vengefull stuns... both attack,
then when hero is out of the stun, chen uses purge, both the heros attack again = hero dead (unless it has blink or wind walk)
if that is the case, even if you dont kill it, you will send it back to heal, making it lose even more experience
than if you killed it. This hero combonation even works against the best early game nukers, i will post replay..
u may be thinking why these too must go top lane. its because they will be the two making most of the money
firstly from creep kills and from hero kills.

Bot: Morphling: This hero must solo, because the other heros work better together than this one does.
it should survive to level 6 easily without dying (blink and wave can drive enemys back)

bt the required skills are
-lvl4 Infernal Rain
-Spell Steal
-and everyone must be above lvl6

------Morphling must only steal infernal rain when infernal rain is level 4!!!!!!----------

items are important for this strat to work... cause basically it ends up with mass infernals.. everyone must buy a refresher orb (as a combined team...)
Refresher orb-
-robe of magi- 450
-sobi mask- 325
-quatter staff- 1150
-----Oblivion Staff------

-void stone- 900
-ring of health- 875
-Scroll- 1875
-----Refresher------

Total gold cost- 5575
the price can be spread around the team mates as following..
1 hero gets Robe of magi and sobi mask...
1 hero gets the scroll.. (the one that gets the most gold)
1 hero gets the quatter staff..
1 hero gets ring of health..
1 hero gets void stone..

all in all u should, without deaths or kills, have this within the time it takes the lowest xp hero to get to lvl 6...

once u feel ready and are all above lvl 6..
then u all push mid.. (with the morphing having stolen the infernal rain)
and the refresher orb in the hands of the silencer...
push middle, and use infernals on towers, u dont need both heros casting infernals no towers yet, save that for the baracks,
or heros.

-------THE REFREHER ORB SWOP-----------
basically, swoping the refresher orb around, recharges its cool down instantly, try it for yourself, it does work.
this little trick creates 12 infernals..... that is almost a whle army of them deeling ALOT of damage.

when u get far enough in the mid... the enermy heros will come to protect it (make sure that u are not ambushed and that they are
infront of u, this maybe be hard but it is very important..)
when this has happened.. the following steps should occur for it to work

step 1: silence uses infernals (should be on heros)
step 2: silence uses refresher orb
step 3: silence uses infernals (should be on heros)
step 4: silence hands the refresher orb to morphing (which by now should have infernal rain..)
step 5: morphling uses infernals (should be on heros)
step 6: morphling uses refresher orb
step 7: morphling uses infernals (should be on heros)
NOTE.. these steps have to come precise and fast.. so pratice may be important for this strat..

all in all this should do about 1500 damage just with the landing of infernals...

after this has all happened push with all (the heros, infernals and whatever creeps u may have gotten with the chen) and continue to there base to destroy the rax maybe even 2 or 3...
note the enemy heros "should" not be a problem at this time.. because u should have wiped most of them out on the waves of infernals coming down..

therefore u technical can push a side.. and wipe out many rax's at the same time..

(note.. if ur team is finding it hard to get the heros all into one place for the attack of infernals..
try using the centour and dagger of escape (he can blink in and stun every1 around for 3 secounds)... that should buy u enough time to get the infernals landing on there heads)
but the centaur is mainly used as meat wall

Our DOTA / Warcraft Forums Crashed!

Unfortunately over night, our forums provider 'freeforums.org' had a major network storage failure and lost the forums of several thousands of users. (This resulted in the loss of probably close to a million posts from all the various forums)

Here at DOTAtips.info - we lost plenty of DOTA and Warcraft posts and I apologise to all our regular posts: Tubby, Parkin, Kalgar and Co.

However, while the old forums are back up with hardly any posts - we will be setting up a brand new forum this week with a new provider that will hopefully be even better than before.

The forums will expand from not just DOTA talk, but extended Warcraft coverage and World of Warcraft also.

KEY TO WINNING DOTA:

Actually there are 2; [1] experience and [2] money
for me the best way to achieve these, is to have a very good start. instead of purchasing boots of speed like "noobs" do, try purchasing potions and SOT(scroll of town portal first). in this way when ur get damaged, u can just use your potion to regain ur life so you dont go home alot. Note: going home makes you loose cash and experience. dont be so hot in the early game to kill the oponent, make your move if it is a sure kill. dont be too greedy rushing in and as a result getting killed by the enemys' towers.
the scroll on the other hand makes you go home more quickly. this also saves your experience and the money that you might be getting rather than running around the map.
if you still have money after buying the scroll and 1!!! potion, purchase some circlets or specialized items for your hero.(agi, int, strength) this will give you an edge in the early stages. think of it, your enemy has boots, you have items adding to your stats. you have better chance of winning. this is for now, ask some questions so i know what i can add up. hehe

PS: start thinking as a pro, purchase items to kill and stop being "noobs" thinking how to run

DOTA Denying Creeps

Todays Tactic Chat: Denying Creeps

Denying creeps is very important during the start of a DOTA game. Level 1 hero's generally ned 3 or 4 creep kills to get a new level.

Denying an opponent a creep will allow you a massive advantage over your competitors. You don't just reduce the experience your enemies receive, you also stop them from getting gold from the creep kills.

To deny a creep, you must attack your own creep, when they are very low on health (you can only attack your own creeps when they have lesss than 50% of their maximum hp).

You can also do the same to towers, denying your own towers before an enemy takes them - prevents them from getting large amounts of gold. And anyone knows in DOTA, gold is king.

Some say denying is a 'cheap' or 'dirty' way of playing DOTA - but the truth is - it's in the rules and allowed in game. Learn to deny or get used to losing to the pros.

DOTA Comp Run and Won

The DOTA comp as run at NetCafe Revesby as the doors closed on the Net Gaming Cafe and LAN centre for good.

Honours again went to Daniel 'Tubby' Telford. The ageless master of DOTA beat all comers, even when he got a poor hero in 'PitLord' and was plugged a few times - he won enough games / points overall to take the DOTA championship.

DOTA Lag Dropouts and Plug Pulls

DOTA is an extremely network sensitive game. It is really only playable on LAN or internet mode (broadband only) - dialup is a big no no for DOTA.

If your having network problems with DOTA, the first thing to do is make sure your on the latest patch from Blizzard - 1.21 is the latest DOTA patch version. This will help BattleNet run smoothly. If you're using a wireless LAN or wireless broadband - this can also affect DOTA pings and cause the game to stutter.

Wireless LANS and Wireless Broadband for DOTA are a bad combination. Even lag that doesn't cause dropout can effect DOTA gameplay - prevent kills and annoy other DOTA players.

The other cause of annoyance, is plug pullers. With DOTA players that are losing, simply exit the game by 'plug pulling' their broadband connection to make their dropout look like a network issue as opposed to a 'rage quit'

Most players on BattleNet and Bored Aussie Networks these days use a 'database' or listing of players - via software such as Banlist which prevents and tracks users from leaving the game.

The good thing about DOTA on the LAN, is that you know WHO is playing, the ping is good, there are no network or MAP hacks and it should be fair.

Geomancer Build Tip Strat DOTA

Geomancer i've heard is one of the hardest players to master in DOTA. Recently i've tried him and found it hard to manage his ulti - which is splitting his player into multiple units.

The multiple hero units give you plenty of power and the ability to play all over the map, but if one of these units die - you the actual Geomancer hero dies.

I tried sending the Geomancer units all over the map, but this made it very hard to manage their health. Ive noticed when people use Geomancer and his units close together, it makes it much easier to manage them and keep their health higher.

When managed well, Geo is unstoppable in DOTA - his impact and damage with the multiple units is huge.

DOTA Team Balance Skills/Random

Another important ingredient for a good game of DOTA - is even skills across both DOTA teams. Especially in 5 v 5 - or actually any game of DOTA.

Some of the game of the game commands are -SP shuffle player -OM only mid -AR all random -AP all pick -EM easy mode -SC super creeps

With the -SP shuffle player function is randomly puts players on both teams. Helps to split up the better players.

When the DOTA teams aren't fair, the speed and power with which the more talented team can win is scary. So not only if you have talented players on one team, with -AR all random, you might get the best hero's given to a certain team - this can also kill a game very quickly.

All random is best for 5 v 5 where all players and skill levels are even.

If you choose the super creep option, it gives you a chance to get more money and XP as you kill the beasts. But they can hit your lane pretty hard. Its best to team with hero's to kill the super creeps.

Beat Phantom Assassin One on One

Phantom Assassin as we all know is a very powerful DOTA character towards the end of the game (late game) Early on, being a melee hero, Phantom Assassin or PA - isn't extremely strong. Even mid game, if the player hasn't leveled well or bought the right items PA is certainly beatable 1 on 1 or in a group.

DOTA Tips has a post below from a well know DOTA champion regarding tactics and build against PA for winning everytime: (Remember Phantom Assassin is tough 1 on 1, but she CAN be beaten)

The choice of bradwarden against mortred (phantom assassin) is good. Now, put lothars and 2 blademills in your item build. Also, 1 x Tarrasque, 1 x Assault Curias, and 1 x Buryza will surely kill mortred (phantom assassin) 1v1. Also 2 x Blademills combined with your damage return is huge power!! Then you can stomp, wack, wack, wack, Double Edge and you can just stand there watching her dying with her own attacks! Also, heroes with permabash / stun are a very good choice as well. Something like Void's chrono rocks here!! Phantom Assassin can't do anything. If she has bladmills as well, use an item with lifestell like vladimirs or satanic to override the return damage from blademills. Good luck in defeating Phantom Assassin!

Rager Quitters, Newbs, Noobs and Cry Babies

NOOBS - This is a problem not with just DOTA but with many games on-line. Especially DOTA where you need 5 v 5 in terms of players and you need to know that the enemies are going to stay for the general length of the game - in DOTA usually 1 hour.

Having someone RAGE QUIT because they are going bad, or got a bad hero - affects DOTA so much, when its suddenly 4v5 it makes the game much tougher. While money from the leaving hero is split amongst teammates, having only 4 men makes defence and pushing heaps harder.

Another problem is NOOBS/NEWBS/N00Bs/NUBS/NEWBZ call them what you want, but these guys are problematic in DOTA. Its a game where you need patience and skill from day 1 but it is hard to learn. When Newbs start playing they are easy meat for experienced players and this makes them 'fed' but getting quick and easy kills the older and more experienced DOTA player grow much bigger quickly.

In DOTA the next most annoyong thing is the cry baby. When people are going badly or have a new hero that they can't use - they will cry more noob .. A term given to cry babies. They will say things like "You are using a CHEAP HERO" or "GANK GANK" whatever they can - to make an excuse for the fact that they are going bad. Sometimes DOTA cry babies will FEED and intentionally give their lives to the other team to ruin the game.

Thats the only bad thing DOTA has - it's a great game, but these three problems make things really hard.

Venomancer DOTA Build Strat

Today's review from Andrew Natoli, a DOTA guru from NSW and a regular at all the major DOTA tournaments.

Andrew Natoli:
One of the best overall heroes I think, especially in the early portions of the game is the Venomancer. If you can handle this hero in the right way and with some elite skill you most likely you will get the first blood! Most times.

Ok, first up - Get the boots of speed - V.Important. If you're actually playing 5 v 5, get the boots first and foremost always.

Get a couple of null talismans then you're set.

Skill Wise:
Learn the Poison Sting first, then build Shadow Strike. Do not learn the Plague Ward ok, it sucks.

Poison sting will give you a little edge over your enemies because then your attacks will have extra damage/sec.

What you do is shadow strike the enemy first, then chase him with your powerful attacks while he is slowed, make sure you do this while you're away from the enemy tower or you'll be screwed up badly.

While attacking the creeps, position yourself on the side of the map, so that your enemy can't get close enough to earn the experience. Shadow strike and they will quickly flee, if they don't, kill them quickly.

Once you've earned just enough money buy the power treads, then go for crystalis. Depending on who you're up against, a perseverance is also very useful for Veno. If you've made a good number of kills, most likely all your enemies will be targeting you in a confrontation first.

A dagger of escape will always save you in these situations, very handy. It's also a very sneaky way to cast the poison nova.

Use it to attack from behind into an ongoing battle and blink right where the enemies are then press V to cast the spell. Don't move or else the spell will be broken quickly. With all the more money get the buriza.

Now you're a real killer. remember if anyone casts the freezing field, exorcism, epicenter or chain frost just blink yourself out of the area to be safe. if you still have a lot of money buy a soul booster to increase life and mana.

DOTA Strategy Help

Here at DOTA tips, we are generally focusing on high skill builds and strategies for DOTA players. We had some email today from people new to DOTA who have been fighting it out on BattleNet and finding things hard.

As we all know, getting started in DOTA can be tough. It takes a long time to learn and master the game of DOTA, and we thought we would provide some tips on which hero's are best to start out with and which are the good basic items to use initially along with some DOTA newbie strategy and style play info.

Good DOTA Heros for Newbies:

- Lion

- Rhasta (Shadow Shaman)

- Dwarven Sniper

- Skeleton King

These heros all have attacks and abilities that are easy to understand. The first two, Lion and Rhasta being 'Intelligence' based heroes. These guys are best 'early' game, agility based heroes such as Dwarven Sniper are best 'mid game' and finally 'strength' hero's such as Skeleton King are handy late game.

The best bit of advice for newbies in DOTA is to play 'defensively'. By this I mean, do not charge in and attack enemy heroes. Stay back, use towers and creeps for defense - ALWAYS keep creeps in front of you initially. Watch you DOTA mini map. This is critical!

Finally, try to stay with a fellow hero / ally. This keeps you safe and minimizes the chances of a 'gank'. (Gank means several enemies attacking you at once)

Now for items. There are speciality items for each class (agility, intelligence and strength) however when starting out - you should pick some basic items that will simply sustain your life and let you learn the game.

Items for Newbies:

Boots (Always handy, ensure you have them - you will need them to get away at times)

Ring of Health (A 875 cost item, returns your health constantly)

Void Stone (A 900 cost item, this regen's your mana, when combined with ring o health - you get 'perserverence')

Mithrill Hammer (Adds damage, buy a gauntlet of strength and finally cranium basher recipie to make a nice stun / damage item)

Helmet of Iron Will (Buy this and buy a mask of death afterwards. This gives you armour, regen health and some lifesteal. Very handy in battle)

Conclusion.

DOTA is a tricky game, don't get put off by hard times and early deaths. Keep yourself alive and keep learning. Stay with allies and watch them do their stuff. It won't be long till you're owning at DOTA, and you won't be a newbie anymore!

DOTA Pushing Strategy Best

The key to winning a DOTA match quickly and easily is a good pushing strategy. Many people play DOTA to simply get 'hero kills'

Killing hero's in DOTA is fun, but it doesn't always win you the game. Today we have a look at a 5 man hero combo team that is unstoppable if used right - this group of DOTA heros can totally push a lane hard and win well.

Hero's needed:
Furion (Ring of Basil, Treads, Mekansm, Radiance, Null Talis)
Keeper of the Light (Mekansm, Boots of Travel, Dagon, Scythe of Vyse, Aghanims)
Rhasta (Mekansm, Boots of Travel, Scythe of Vyse, Aghanims and Refresher Orb)
Warlock (Mekansm, Necronomicon, Dagon, Scythe, Boots of Travel)
Purist (Mekansm, Sange and Yasha, Boots of Travel, Perserverence, Radiance)

DOTA Push Concept:
The basic concept is totally overwhelming for the 5 man enemy. Because of a large amount of summoned monsters and the pure healing abilities - this allows pushing the opponent back fast. Recommend going over this DOTA strat a few times and discussing this with your team before using it.

DOTA Attacking Concept:
This hero roster is not compulsory, options are broodmother, and Enigma. Why 2 heroes that are particularly strong on their own?, and have good summoned units are not included here?" Well, the broodmother just does not fit in well, she is undenyably a strong hero, but aside from her spiderlings(which are expensive) she cannot contribute anything else to this strategy, not even the power of presence, if you know what i mean. However, Enigma could be a very vital edition to this strategy and we recommend using him instead one of the heroes(either the keeper of the light(preferebly this one) or the warlock), as his conversion skill can deny enemy heroes creep kills and create a powerful damaging army. The main items for every hero you might suggest are mekanism and other suport items preferably necromincon.

There are two main ways to perform this strategy, it depends on the heros facing off.

First one is that all five heros should gather on the middle lane and attack with the first wave of creeps. During the first push your team should try to destroy the first tower, keeper of the light the main hero here as his illuminate will keep enemy heros away and is very effective against creeps, also then use chakra magic to totally revitalize your mana and then the prophets mana if possible. The first tower should be an easy one to destroy since enemy heros would not anticipate 5 heros pushing at lvl one (So Early). After the first tower you should be careful even though you would have a good amount of hp an mana left, because the enemy heros would probably gather to counter your push. By this stage you should try to lay as much damage to the second tower as possible without dying. At this point you should probably go back to base, heal and buy some of the suggested items. Then continue your push on the second tower, by then if everything goes smoothly you should ensure victory as long as you keep the pressure on the enemy but dont get too cocky. Your team can increase their chances of victory by getting super creeps on more than one lane, the prophet and the keeper of light (boots of travel) can do this easily by teleporting and by moving from lane to lane. This will confuse the enemy and force to split up and make them waste time. Do not let the match go to late game, because if it does there is a possibility that you could lose because some of the suggested heros can not adapt to late game.

The secondary method of pushing is that you all go on different lanes and try to reach level 6 as soon as possible, creeping will be your first prioroty (levelling), and then denying is your next. once the most important heroes hit level 6, particularly Rhasta and Demnok the Warlock, all the team should follow the guidelines for the first method, gather on a lane and push as fast as possible.

Remember, Dota is not won by killing enemy heroes (Important!) it is won by killing the main stronghold (Throne / Tree). This is exactly what this strategy tries to accomplish. Getting super or even mega creeps will be your first prioroty, once accomplished, your goal will be almost withing your grasp, as i have never heard of anyone who won against mega creeps.

Combining DoTA (Combos) Heros:
Early on, all the heros should be on the same lane, but later in the game prophet and keeper of the light can split from the the main group and push alone. Using Mass serpent wards and the infernal are the main tower destroyers - lethal combos. Every hero in this strategy must have mekanism for healing (important) and defence / armor purposes (you should not use all the mekanisms at the same time!). Guin soo (Scythe) for most of the heros will ensure that the enemy damage dealers are hexed and killed.

If you choose the second method, we recommend having Rhasta to solo a lane. The warlock and Omniknight can share a line usually. A good combo with those 2 is casting fatal bonds then purificatio. And lastly, finally, make sure you have the prophet and then the keeper of the light share a lane. Those 2 DOTA heros are meant for each other. Here are some other combos. Sprout an enemy while casting illuminate for a sure heavy combo, possibly first blood. Cast chakra magic on the druid for continuous treant summoning.

DOTA Defence (If things go wrong)
This is an attacking theory, but if things go wrong - you may need to defend some.
The best defence is a good strong offense. If you are forced to defend, make use of your boots of travel to move around lanes quickly, and suporting your advanced creeps. this will create pressure on your opponent and will force them to waste time. Easiest done with prophet, rhasta, and demnok.

But I will take this space to describe one of the matches we used this strategy in. the match was before 3.36, but the actual hero roster was really different. We ran Enigma, prophet, keeper of the light, lone druid(for his bear), and i think Raylai the frost princess. our enemy ran a strong roster of extremely strong hero killers, good builds - including Tidehunter, bounty hunter, kel thuzad the lich and other similar good heros. so from the beging of the match, we all gathered mid without showing ourselves initially , then pushed with the first creep wave, our opponent's were like "Newbs, why all 1 lane" 5 seconds and we took the first tower(from the first creep wave), we pushed our advantage and almost got the second tower very early, and destroyed it with the second creep wave. during the second tower battle, the enemy was on to us from everyside, but couldn't dare approach our big forces alone, as as soon as they showed their skin we would control them with hexes or stuns. However by the 3rd tower, the lich and tidehunter where both at levels 9+ and most of our team was 3 levels behind. the lich and tidehunter unleashed some fury, and took out 1-2 of us down, including enigma(Enigma being the prime target the whole match for a reason the mystifies me). They pushed us back, but we still had the spirits to fight. when we retreated, the prophet teleported to the top lane and killed a tower, then went to the bottom lane to support the keeper of the light and killed the bottom tower. afterwards was a routine of teleporting aroudn the map and killing towers until we finally managed to get hold of their crypts and get the upper hand by summoning mega creeps.

DOTA Summary / Final Words
This pusher strategy is all about trying to survive and push hard until getting hold of mega creeps. Your team then needs to be very familliar with the heros and each others skill level and hero ability. We have tried this strategy out against decent teams and won. If u do it right ull end up on the winning team. Talk it over with your friends before to the match, divide heros and roles between team mates. Surprise the enemy with a totaly new startegy and don't forget to have fun!

Magina the Anti Mage

Magina a great hero with alot of base attack speed, very good against mages and great against skeleton king lerioc.

Try Magina with the following items: with vlads, power treads and a cranium basher - you are a decent foe on the battlefield, expecially good against mages because of his 64 mana drain per hit, and with the basher your able to stun themn and drain all their mana before they are able to think. DOTA heros mostly thrive on mana, so with Magina you are taking all the power away with heavy mana attacking.

Many DOTA players struggle with mana draining heros, but this skill along with his other abilities, manasheild:reducing all magic damage taken by 40% and blink you can easily move in and out of battles, and his ulti the one that absolutly owns all mages when they have no mana, is mana void: is does damage on the amount of of mana points that is missing on the enemy hero, so combine this win stun and the manadrain, they will have no mana and simply use your ulti, an awsome person for trying to combat certain heroes.

Lich King Lifesteal Build

I just came out of a 6.44 game of DOTA using my old favourite hero, the Lich King.

Now I usually spec lich out like your typical intelligence DOTA hero, so scthye of vyse, plenty of mana regen, attack speed and then maybe some armour to combine with the frost armour arsenal.

However, in this game of DOTA, it was Lich, Pit Lord (new DOTA 6.44 hero) and Dazzle (Shadow Priest) up against Tiny and Troll. The two players using Tiny and Troll were talented DOTA players (One was world champion Daniel Telford and the other was an up and coming DOTA player from Lebanon Jesse Semrany.)

Early game, I farmed hard and got lich levelling quickly and nicely. I got treads quickly and proceeded to get oblivion and cyclone.

Now with Lich, I simply build his frost nova (dmg, slow) and the stats icon. (I dont select any other attack until the level 6 ulti is available) a lot of people say this is weird and ask why no frost armour or mana drain chosen? - Having frost nova built up and your stats, you are LETHAL very early in the game.

I used some river runs to get early kills, using frost nova initially then a few attacks and finishing with chain frost as the enemy runs away near creeps.

Now, as I got bigger and got cash - I actually bought life steal for Lich. The lifesteal was amazing, as I had midas to get my attack speed up and my damage was +100 - so I could really stand and deliver against enemies. Well worth a try.

Skeleton King Strategy Build

For players that love King Leroic or Skeleton King - today we get a good info guide and strategy build from up and coming DOTA star, DJ / Andrew Natoli of USA.

Natoli, a 4th year Uni student - spends him time working at McDonalds to earn cash and loves a good game of DOTA. Natoli regularly uses the King Leroic / Skeleton king, a scourge hero that has attacks such as - storm bolt (stun), critical strike, vampric auro where he gains life steal from damage dealt and finally, the ulti for Skeleton King is 'reincarnate' - where the SK hero comes back to life if enough mana is available.

Ok, this is what you should get for Skeleton King and how to play him.

First buy, get boots of speed - important to get the movement speed up. (Save cash to get power treads as you will need the speed and attack speed in later game)

Ok, now Natoli recommends to spec for high damage and then throw in some life steal and stun. So go along the lines of satanic and basher x 1 or basher x 2. You already have crit as a passive, so that helps grab life back. If you dont want to go down the life steal path- then look at a heart of t and get superior healing (can combine helm of iron will and mask of death here too, for protection AND lifesteal) this makes the helm of dominator - very cool nerd combo.

This guy with his ulti / reincarnate- very powerful at the end - just becareful of mana burn. Mana burn from magina, anti mage -nerubian assassin.

Nerubian Weaver is a very powerful DOTA hero / character. Nerubian Weaver has a wind walk, a mana drain / burn which also damages the enemy heros and an impale than stuns and hurts badly.

windwalk sorta imba especially if your melee fighting against him, when you goto attack he ww runs through you a coupple times so you run back or somewhere to get outta the way he attacks from behind and every time you goto attack he ww and runs through you, i tell you its annoying but it would probably be better if he didnt have that 522 movspeed in his ww

shukuchi is very good for spammin while fleein or chasin, u cannot die with this hero, but shes not really an offensive hero and its nearly impossible for me to win with him. radiance is useful for his shukuchi skill, even if u do lose ur invisibility. i love runnin through giant fights and when im on the verge of dyin, ulti to recover and more shukuchi, then flee afta a bit. more of a harrassin than slayer. get ur watchers to patrol the rivers, centuars and secret shops

My first fave hero, no doubt about it i love this spider! Not a good newbie hero but if you become a 'master weaver' better watch out lol, Shukuchi rocks for harrassing early on or getting last hits on creeps, people say its so ultima but you can just get wards/gem and hit like twice to kill

This is an advanced hero. Hard to use, but can be incredibly effective. With Shukuchi (whatever that means) and max Germinate, you become the ultimate chaser. Then get radiance...game over.

Cheapest hero in the game. So imba. Max speed wind walk with fast cd and 90 dmg when you pass through units and a timewarp? How does a spider even have timewarp!?

THATS IT... if you have those, you probably have already won the game... hes prettyhard to kill even with a caster, since he can always ulti and run. Plus with the skadi and heart, he has about 3.2k life, thus making him a super tank capable of combining his ulti and gaining about 4-6k life. Also does extreme amounts of dmg with the mkb buriz skadi and butterfly.

dagon... man.. thats the ugliest nerub build ever. Jesus... BKB?.. wow.... please do not suggest crappy builds until you have tested them and it is decent.

prolly u are idiot. do u know even the cost of these items? your game will take a long to purhase this items.
1st of all this here needs a little more stamina/hp regeneration to lvl up him asap. so early game boots/bracer/ring.
If u get daggon at 10 lvl u will gank like crazy and take money to make butterfly faster. think about it and practice more with him. (also use a vanguard if game doesnt go well at low lvls).

@Greedygood - i'm no japanese to know what it really means, but i think it was derived from a technique by "the tenken"(one of kenshins enemy) in the anime samurai x, where in the tenken move at incredible speed and is almost impossible to see and whack his enemies with his sword.

IceFrog the makers of DOTA for Warcraft 3 - have just released a new version of the famous DOTA game / mod.

DOTA Map v6.44 introduces new heros, several of them and now DOTA players are able to harness and master some new skills. One new move being a transport PORTAL, where allies can be sent anywhere on the map.
