Ok, this post might not apply to some of the more advanced DOTA players and users - however for people just learning DOTA; it's an important tip and strategy suggestion.
Many people don't know that DOTA can be played in a solo mode. The AI version of the DOTA maps - allows users to play alone at home offline directly from their warcraft program.
When Icefrog releases a new DOTA map he also releases an AI version - so if you would like to play alone and test your strategy and hero against the computer (at varying skill levels) simply download and install the DOTA AI map and feel safe to test in the comfort of your own newbness.
You won't have elite DOTA players giving you a hard time about being a newby - so just try your new heros and maybe even master harder hero's such as phantom assassin, lucifer (doom bringer), lich king or stealth assassin.

yeah I agree. And the good thing about it is that AI won't call you noob. =p but if icefrog add some commands on the AI script I guess AI will say this soon: "Noob! You are too easy!"
I love the ai game it is excellent. now I can actually learn to play instead of getting kicked out of every game ten seconds in.
how do I install ai map? I downloaded some ai maps ends with "w3x" but can't see them in the download folder in WC creating game...? Any help is much appreciated. pls email to tungdadatung @ yahoo.com.sg. Thank you.

u wont learn anything from practing with AI. the stupid computer keep trying to run away from u. their mentality is... stay alive > killing u . so just figure out a way on how to prevent him from going back to heal then u can own AI easily . chase , stun , slow, blink , whatever , everything works againts AI
nah... i don't really think i can agree what were you talking about this AI... Try playing AI+... i think playing AI+ is a lot more intereting against playing with human... eventhough there are a little bit of "lying"... i can go against 5 on 5 with human without working my ass very hard... but 5 on 5 with AI+ it is not how easy they are... you might give up playing DOTA... i guess..^^
